Before I worked for Totallux, I was co-head of sales for a Belgian LED lighting manufacturer specialised in general and emergency lighting. Here I gained a lot of technical lighting knowledge and experience in contact with large institutions, such as universities and hospitals.
My role at Totallux will be to take over sales in the Netherlands from my colleague, Stephen Raithel, who will be focusing more on the German market going forward. It is very important to me that the transition goes as smoothly as possible. I would like to get to know our customers better, get a good picture of their wishes and needs, and for them to get to know me better too. In addition, I intend to focus on bringing in new customers who see cooperation with Totallux as an added value to their business. It is important to keep looking at which customers fit your company, which customers get excited about you and how you can get to a higher level together.
It is important for a company to keep a close eye on what is happening in the market and keep up with it. Totallux’s product range is broad. As far as the outdoor sector is concerned, you can see that less and less people are moving house and instead giving their existing home and garden an upgrade. We are responding to this trend by broadening our product offering with new products that are easy to connect to our existing Totallux systems.
What does success mean to me? To be successful, it is important that you feel good about yourself. Balance is the golden word. Logically, if your private life is going well, business will go well too. Sales is different every day. I have learned to challenge myself to learn from my successes and also from the areas needing improvement. And I try to always have a sense of humour. For example, in my first week at work I was having a laugh standing against a freshly painted veranda pole and soon discovered I was covered in varnish.
Needless to say, my colleagues at Totallux never get bored….’
